The Underground Socialist at the 7-11

From the way she wears her hair, her oversize glasses, and her demeanor, I’d expect her to be behind the register at a leftist bookstore in the early 70s. I thought the moment I first saw her that I’d connect with her; two refugees from a different time and different place all caught up in the crash and burn of what Reagan started.

But there’s doesn’t seem to be a political there there, and I wonder if she even knows that she sets off people’s red-dar. What happens when you look the part of something but aren’t?

Who is this stereotypical sixties-style socialist at the 7-11. Is she just the wrong mind in the wrong body, or maybe she’s really a leftover of the Symbionese Liberation Army era who is laying low and unable to flash her real colors?
